The trip along the Amalfi coast ...

We flew to Naples and stayed in a cute B&B in the center of Naples. The next morning, we explored the city and in the afternoon, we picked up our rental car near the central station in Naples. From there we left for The Amalfi Coast. We rented an spacious apartment with balcony and sea view in Massa Lubrense for 3 nights.

Over the next two days, we explored the tip of the peninsula—both on foot and by car—relaxed at the beach, and spent time wandering through the shops before enjoying dinner in Sorrento.

On day 5, we continued our route along the Amalfi Coast, towards Positano, Praiano, Fiordo di Furore (known for the beautiful idyllic bridge) and we did the Zipline Italia (from Furore to Conca dei Marini!) enjoying one of the panoramas on, as they call it here, "The Divine Coast"!

We drove further to Ravello and explored this town. Read more about Ravello (beautiful place) below. We continued to Amalfi and Vietre sul Mare.

Driving this route takes longer than expected—it’s often busy, and there are simply too many breathtaking viewpoints to pass without stopping.

Along the way you can buy lemons everywhere and delicious products made from lemons, among other things, the Limoncello. We drove further to our end destination Castelammare di Stabia. Here, we booked a very stylish apartment with spacious roof terrace and stayed 2 nights.

The next morning, we went to Mount Vesuvius (attention, you will need pre-booking for this) and Pompeii Heritage Site. We wrote another blog about these two touristic hotspots.

On day 7, we went back to Napels, returned our rental car and took the train to Rome.

Our highlights

Roadtrippin' Amalfi

...  one of the most scenic coastlines in Italy. Italy has many touristic attractions, the Amalfi Coast should not be missing from this list.

Positano

We were enchanted by Positano, with its colorful cliffside houses tumbling down to the sparkling Mediterranean.

Ravello

Ravello, perched high above the Amalfi Coast, captivates with its stunning hilltop views, historic villas, and timeless charm.

These views never get bored

Roadtrippin'... Amalfi

We genuinely believe—and aren’t exaggerating—that the Amalfi Coast boasts one of the most breathtaking stretches of coastline in the world. We spent seven incredible days exploring the region, yet even with that time, there was still so much to see and do that we barely scratched the surface.

The Amalfi Coast spans a 50-kilometer stretch along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region.

The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its lush lemon groves and, of course, the locally grown, world-famous limoncello.

The breathtaking coastline is dotted with picturesque cliff-side villages, picturesque squares and sun-drenched beaches. It offers scenic hikes, historic towns, and world-famous cuisine: every corner of the Amalfi Coast is teeming with beauty and experiences that will leave you wishing you had more time to explore.

The classic Amalfi Coast route usually begins in Positano, on the west side of the coast, and then runs east along the coast through picturesque villages such as Praiano, Furore, Conca dei Marini, and Amalfi, often ending in Ravello, which is located a little higher in the hills above Amalfi.

Positano

We were instantly captivated by Positano, with its colorful houses tumbling down the cliffs toward the sparkling sea. Wandering through the narrow streets, we discovered charming boutiques, cozy cafes, and lively restaurants at every turn. We spent time relaxing on the pebble beaches, soaking up the sun and swimming in the turquoise waters.

From various terraces, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the coastline and surrounding mountains. Every steep stairway we climbed felt like stepping into a postcard, and exploring the town together made us feel like we were living a sun-soaked Mediterranean dream.

Positano

Ravello

Founded in the 5th century, Ravello stands out among the towns of the Amalfi Coast thanks to its unique hilltop setting, perched 365 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea rather than directly along the shoreline. This elevated position offers sweeping panoramic views that are simply breathtaking.

Ravello forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation that protects the Amalfi Coast, reflecting its cultural and historical significance. The town boasts a rich and storied past, spectacular natural scenery, and remarkable architecture. Visitors can admire elegant villas and some of the original palazzos built by medieval nobility, which still showcase intricate details and timeless charm. Combined with its peaceful atmosphere and dramatic views, Ravello feels like a world apart—an enchanting blend of history, art, and landscape.

We explored the town on foot, strolling through the picturesque streets, and over squares and stairs. We settled down on one of the many terraces and had a delicious meal. Ravello is truly one of the cutest towns we have ever seen.

Ravello

Zipline Italia

We had an unforgettable adventure with Zipline Italia along the Amalfi Coast. High above the cliffs between Furore and Conca dei Marini, we soared over the breathtaking fjord of Furore, enjoying panoramic views of the sparkling sea and the rugged coastline. It was a truly unique way to experience one of Italy's most spectacular landscapes.

Lemons and limoncello

The Amalfi Coast is one of the main producers of the iconic Italian liqueur limoncello. The lemons used for it come from Sorrento and are so fragrant, organic, and rich in vitamin C that even the zest can be enjoyed. It’s exactly this aromatic peel that gives limoncello its intense flavor, making it the region’s traditional and most beloved alcoholic drink.
