Abrahamic Family House

We went to the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi, a unique place where three religions come together: Christianity, Judaism and Islam ✝️🕎☪️ The house is named after Abraham, the prophet who is revered in all three languages.

Despite the differences, there are so many similarities and common values.

Foundation

The Abrahamic Family House is funded by the UAE government.

It was reinforced by the signing of the 'Document on Human Fraternity' on Feb 4 2019 by representatives:

Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church;
Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Mosque;
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the UAE;
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dialogue

The house was officially opened in March 2023 to foster dialogue, mutual respect, and coexistence among Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

Designed by Sir David Adjaye, the three houses of worship share equal form and space, symbolizing unity in diversity while preserving each religion’s identity.

The site also serves as a cultural hub for education and community events, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to tolerance and understanding.

3 places of worship coming together

We visited the three places of worship: Imam Al Tayeb Mosque, St Francis Church and Moses ben Maimon Synagogue.

Despite the differences, there are so many similarities and common values. This house is a powerful platform for creating mutual understanding and acceptance. It is a beautiful, serene and impressive place.
