Al Awir Plane Crash
January 2021
This crash site was one of the strangest abandoned places we stumbled upon during our trips and travels.
Hidden away from any obvious path and slowly being reclaimed by nature, it feels like a secret the landscape is trying to keep.
What makes the place even more unsettling is the lack of concrete information about the plane itself. No plaques, no official records, no clear explanation—just silence.
So far, everything surrounding the site exists in the realm of rumor and speculation.
Locals whisper different versions of the story, and online searches lead mostly to dead ends.
The most common theory is that the wreckage comes from a simulated plane crash used in a 2011 rescue training exercise to prepare emergency responders for real disasters.
But despite how often this explanation is repeated, it has never been officially confirmed.
Standing there, surrounded by twisted metal and weathered fragments, it’s hard not to let your imagination run wild. Was this really just a drill, carefully staged and then forgotten?
Or is there more to the story that never made it into the public eye? With no answers and no signs to guide you, the site remains suspended somewhere between fact and fiction—an eerie reminder that some places keep their secrets, no matter how curious the visitor.
