Crescent Moon Lake

Crescent Moon Lake is a stunning man-made desert lake shaped like a crescent, offering a peaceful escape and a unique camping spot amid Dubai’s golden dunes.

Recently, we discovered a new spot out in the desert. You head in the direction of Bab Al Shams Resort, and from there, turn off-road and follow the coordinates into the dunes. After a bit of driving through the sand, you’ll come across this charming little lake, tucked away in the middle of nowhere.

It’s actually a designated drinking area for wildlife, but in true Dubai style, they’ve turned it into something unique—a small lake shaped like a half moon. The drone footage was captured by Dinand, who beautifully showcased its distinctive shape from above.

Wildlife

The drive to this lake is fairly rough and requires a 4x4 vehicle, but it’s absolutely worth the effort. Once you arrive, you’re rewarded with a peaceful setting and plenty of wildlife— we spotted Arabian oryx and several other deer roaming the area. Dinand captured some stunning aerial shots with his drone, showcasing the beauty of the landscape from above.

Seeing the area from that perspective made the experience even more special. Afterwards, we decided to head back a little closer to the main road and find a nice spot to settle in for sundowners. As the light began to soften and the sun slowly dipped toward the horizon, we relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings— a perfect way to end the afternoon.
